The Mark Toney philosophy is simple. We find the purest and finest ingredients in the world and
use them to produce the best ice creams and sorbets available. It also helps that we love what
we do - our passion and artisan skills have been passed from generation to generation, so after
120 years we’re still a family run business, in the form of great grandson Antony together with
his wife Anne and sister Angela, and we’re proud to say we still hand-make our award winning
dairy ice creams in Newcastle upon Tyne, based on our Italian family’s original recipe.
Our Flavours
A warm welcome awaits you at Mark Toney cafes. The surroundings are warm and inviting and we
guarantee service with a smile but just as importantly we serve delicious and fresh food.
Our broad menu includes tasty paninis cooked to order in a lightly toasted bun, and a choice of
freshly made deep-filled sandwiches. We also offer delicious hot meals throughout the day. Keep
a space for afters, as you don’t want to miss one of our famous ice cream sundaes, or maybe try
a freshly made waffle topped with your favourite ice cream.
Based in the Heart of the North East, we have cafes throughout Newcastle upon Tyne. We still hand-make our Gold Medal award winning dairy ice creams in Benton, based on our family’s original recipe brought from Italy over 120 years ago, combining the best locally sourced dairy products with natural fruits and flavours.
From our humble beginnings in the mountains between Rome and Naples, to our vibrant cafes in Newcastle upon Tyne, the Mark Toney story is one of tradition, family values and a love of ice cream.
